Volkswagen Arteon Coupe (2017 - 2024) Elegance 2.0 TSI 190PS DSG auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I bought a used Arteon from an authorised VW dealer for peace of mind. It has had one recall for a heat mat to be replaced free of charge. The car has fantastic rear legroom similar to a lwb S class ( of which I have had 8) and the interior space is great too. My car is well equipped with leather, a glass sunroof, the newer digital cockpit, Apple CarPlay, DAB radio, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, rear camera, a full size spare wheel and an electric tailgate which I love.
The car is fast, economical, easily fits a family of 5 adults, nice to drive, quite rare on the streets and has an excellent load carrying capacity with the rear seats folded down because it is essentially a posh hatchback.
The downsides are the very odd semi-electric driver's seat which I just don't get and regard as tight fisted on VW UK's part when deciding the original specification.
The glass sunroof is nice but is billed as being panoramic but it doesn't extend far enough backwards to the rear for this to be true.
Finally the connectivity is excellent as is the digital cockpit but the sound system although clear is weak at higher volumes and lacks true bass. It needs far better amplification and speakers.
The car also has auto start/stop which I detest as it jerks and places an unnecessary extra load on the battery, starter and alternator. Fortunately it can be manually switched off which is what I do.
Neither of the front seats have under seat storage despite this being the flagship VW car. My 2006 Jetta has under seat storage under both front seats!
Finally the car's rear ventilation is poor with no adjustment whatsoever. With the benefit of hindsight I should have looked for one with rear heated seats and controls.
