In their own words
Great car to drive. It is comfortable and nippy. Try to find one with the winter pack which gives heated seats and front fog lights. Headlights are poor as standard so I would recommend fitting some upgraded bulbs such as Osram Night breakers which is well worth the upgrade. The Diesel engine is economical and nippy. We also have a 2.0 auto Beetle in the family which is also a great car but much thirstier but drives beautifully. Try to avoid the 1.6 models which are known to be prone to piston ring failure and are no more economical than the more reliable 2.0. I would recommend sourcing the diesel model for an everyday car as is they are looked after they will go on forever. Obviously regular servicing is a must for reliability but they give few problems. There is a thriving Beetle community which is friendly and helpful too. Why drive a boring car when you can drive a beetle and have a smile on your face?
