Economy
Value
Loads of performance per £. Plenty of nails around, so get an inpsection before buying!
Costs
34mpg average on super unleaded. Mechanicals mostly Golf, bodywork and trim costs horrendous.

On the road
Driving
Drives like on rails. Superb handling. Suspension might be too hard for some, though.
Performance
Not the quickest to 60, but great midrange and makes a superb motorway muncher.

Living with it
Reliability
Now on 116k miles, never broken down, but niggly faults now starting to appear with central locking, squeaky fan, wiring etc.
Image
Loads of admiring comment, despite being 13 years old!
Comfort
The most comfy seats I've ever sat in, get some for your front room too...

Security and Service
Security
I have immobiliser fitted.
Service
Only use VW if you are desperate. Service is hopeless and costs are enormous. Go to an independant specialist instead.

None. Still strong after 100k+ miles.
