Economy
Value
A lot of car for your money. Make sure your not buying a thrashed hound though!
Costs
It's more or less a Golf underneath, you should get over 30mpg, just watch out for expensive bodyparts and trim.

On the road
Driving
Extreamly good handling for an old lady, almost zero body roll, but the ride may be a bit too firm for some.
Performance
0-60 time isn't setting the world on fire, however get it above 3500rpm's and it will come alive. Gutsy engine that doesn't mind being revved.

Living with it
Reliability
Typical german realiability, and high build quality. If you look after it, you'll get a lot of miles for a sensible amount of money.
Image
Still one of the best looking hot hatches around, even though mine is 12 years old!
Comfort
Probably one of the best driving positions I've come across and the most comfy. The front seats hold you in place whilst high speed cornering. Rear seats very small, hardly any legroom. Never mind!

Security and Service
Security
Not very good. I had a Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted, to bring down the insurance costs. It's still a very stealable car, so I would definately advise an after-market security device of some description.
Service
Steer well clear of VW. Parts are cheap and I do most stuff myself. You can get a service from a specialist and it won't break the bank.
