Volkswagen Corrado 2.9 VR6 3d (1994/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Prices seem to have fallen sharply over the past two years. I can't see the values drop very steeply now though.
Costs
VW parts are not cheap. Don't buy without considering potentially large maintenance bills if something goes wrong. Buy from an enthusiast if possible.

On the road
Driving
An absolute blast on a twisty B-road. Handling and roadholding are as good as it gets for a FWD car.
Performance
VR6 engine is strong, but best above 4,000rpm. Soundtrack is superb. Economy not bad either. I average 28-30mpg per tank.

Living with it
Reliability
Feels very well-built. If well maintained and not abused, should not cause too many problems.
Image
Distinctive styling and quite rare. Not many people know what it is either, so slightly exclusive image.
Comfort
Ride firm, but seats offer excellent support. Room in the back for 2 more adults, but a little cramped. Still, rear room is good for a coupe though.

Security and Service
Security
Standard security needs upgraded. Fit a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm.
Service
There are a few horror stories surrounding both the pricing and service of main dealers who often don't have much experience with this car. Find a specialist instead.
