Summary
What does this car say about you?
Sophisticated, elegant and understated. (Convenience and practicality over a badge.)
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All are very impressed at externals and everyone agrees the ride is a delight.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Absolutely! But I would examine and probe a little more on the roof maintenance element. VW build the EOS in Portugal and the management team are on record as saying they believe its build quality is 2nd to none.
What are you likely to buy next?
Un-decided. This has at least 3-4 years of life yet!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£26,850
When did you buy the car?
September 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought the car online from Autobytel and they had a relationship with the dealer. They subsequently made a series of errors with the paperwork and that helped my negotiating position.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
The car stood out for 4 reasons: 1) The ride. (Very impressive and smooth, even over potholes.) 2) Hardtop convertible roof. (Looks good up or down and is very discreet.) 3) VW Quality - (The diesel pedigree and build quality is evident.)
What was the dealer like?
Professional and courteous. The lead commercial manager and negotiator was an assassin but fortunately, I am no slouch myself and we managed to reach an equitable deal.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Outstanding! I have the DSG. Its faster than ANY car on the road at flipping between the gears and I have decimated Range Rovers, Jags, BMWs, Mercedes and a Porsche at take-off. Very smooth even power across range and excellent top end.
What's it like to park?
Excellent! Electric side mirrors auto position to facilitate kerbside.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nope! Roof rattles and sqeaks (a little) in the wet when you hit a pothole or travel at speed, from time to time.
What's most practical about your car?
The ability to drop the hood on demand and know that when you raise it the car blends and is as secure as any other vehicle. Soft-top convertibles are a compromise.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The individual comes fully loaded by definition. It would have to be between the Sat Nat and the auto-dimming rear mirror. Small details that make a huge cumulative difference.
