Volkswagen Fox (2006 - 2012) 1.2 Urban Fox 3d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I bought my Fox when my old Corsa was written off from an accident. It was cheap to buy, cheap to insure, and it had my surname on it, so I thought why not!
As a young driver I need something cheap to insure and run and the Fox is good in that respect, although it will guzzle fuel more than newer cars. I managed to get to Devon and back from Birmingham on less than a tank though (about £45 to fill) which pleasantly surprised me!
It's surprisingly spacious too, mostly thanks to the high roof and giving up one seat at the back. Also, did someone mention cupholders? Cause you get a lot of cupholders! There's an AUX port too which is handy if you want to play your own tunes although the port itself is in a... weird place (hint: in the glove compartment!).
My only complaints are the lack of air con, especially with the weather over the last few weeks (but it was used and I was desperate, I couldn't be picky, but it's something to watch out for), and its reluctance to accelerate on the motorway. I rarely carry passengers, but it does sometimes struggle on hills (it can hold its speed but won't accelerate if it's too steep), which I've noticed on country roads. I imagine it would struggle a lot more with a full load. Other than that, can't really fault it. If you don't do much motorway driving this is a decent car to have. Would certainly recommend as a first car if nothing else.
How reliable do you find the car?
Suspension had an issue but that was known when buying the car and was quickly sorted by the local garage. Absolutely no problems since.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
It's your typical city car. Drives well around town but is more sluggish on the motorways, though it can go 70+mph comfortably. It can just be a bit noisy.About their car
