Volkswagen Golf Alltrack (2015 - 2020) 2.0 TDI (184bhp) 5d DSG Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Economy can be squeezed out if driving carefully. Getting MPG figures in the 40’s requires a slower, gentle approach. The Adaptive Cruise Control is a game changer for motorways and slow traffic alike. Very accomplished on poor surfaces such as muddy tracks or in the snow. Excellent family car which is a breeze to drive, safety designed right in, comfortable for long trips, lots of options for mounting items to the roof on standard factory rails. Loads of aftermarket accessories (sun-blinds/rubber mats/mud flaps) Factory tow bar swivels to hide away under rear bumper, and integrates with the car electronics seamlessly.
How reliable do you find the car?
At five years old the car was due a cambelt and water pump. The waterpump on these MQB cars is a known weak point with a solenoid sticking, and mine failed just before five years, so had the cambelt and waterpump changed a couple of months early. Also known fault on the Skoda/Seat/Audi equivalent cars. Also had my haldex serviced independently as VW dealers just change the oil and not the filter. Filter on the pump was clogged up, but after a clean, refit and new oil was like new.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Lightweight enough to be agile and fun to drive. 4motion makes a secure drive in poor weather when combined with decent all-season/winter tires. Tows up to 2000kg so copes with 1500kg trailer with ease. Most of VW Golf factory fit items can be retrofitted aftermarket. (Reversing camera’s / Lane assist/radio units/etc…) very comfortable interior.About their car
