Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet 2.0 Avantgarde 2d (1995/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
I only bought the car 2nd hand but other than consumables has been quite cheap to run.
Costs
VW servicing a bit expensive, but other than that OK.

On the road
Driving
Good to drive, with little body flex for a cabriolet, steering slightly heavy, brakes good.
Performance
When used the performance is good, but the consumption suffers, well it is an 8 valve engine. Very torquey and good around town and B-roads.

Living with it
Reliability
Very good, no problems whatsoever apart from usual wear and tear.
Image
Still after 10 years a classy car, esp. with the roof down, cool looks.
Comfort
Overall quite good with a comfortable enough cabin. But wind noise with the roof up can be annoying.

Security and Service
Security
Ok, but if not already fitted, get a good class 1 alarm/immobiliser (with full closure if poss, handy when parking with the roof down).
