Volkswagen Golf eHybrid verdict

Should you buy one?
Yes. The 2024 Golf eHybrid is an excellent small family plug-in hybrid. There may be more stylish and exciting alternatives on the market, but if you can put the insipidity aside then it’s just a very well-built car able to perform its duties with consummate ease. It’s quiet, comfortable, frugal and could essentially be run as an EV forever with the high e-range. It’s just not likely to inspire the next Sgt Pepper…
What we like
Much improved e-range means the Golf eHybrid could be run as an EV for most of the time around town. If you have a wall box at home, it could be a very cheap car to drive. Also quiet and comfortable inside.
What we don’t like
Just quite bland, with a truly dull interior design. Roomier plug-in options available like the Citroen C5 X SUV for similar money, too.
