Volkswagen Golf Estate 1.9 D CL 5d (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Excellent value as I swapped it with a Scenic.
Costs
It is very, very economical. 50mpg around town and on A roads. I used to be anti-diesel. In France I fill up for 50p a litre!

On the road
Driving
Very solid drive. It does not let itself get thrown around on moor roads. It comes into its own on the motorway, where it offers a very smooth and powerful ride.
Performance
It has plenty of power for our needs. It can overtake when required without having to go down beyond fourth.

Living with it
Reliability
I've had it two years. The clutch plate fell off. No other problems.
Image
Not the most beautiful car in the world. The boot is capacious.
Comfort
Hard seats. Tight in the back for the kids. Boot very big. Comftorable driving position with adjustable seat. Not enough room for three kids. Good stereo.

Security and Service
