Volkswagen Golf Estate (2013 - 2020) R 2.0 TSI BMT 310PS 4Motion DSG auto (03/17 on) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I’ve been a keen driver since the 70’s, 10 years before I took & passed my test in the eighties (trust me, it was easier to fool the police back then ;-) ), but can’t quite carry off a hot hatch on the drive anymore due to my wife looking on. The R Estate is a responsible, sedate looking "Q" car that few suspect can exceed the national limit by more than 2x …that’s my little secret.
Carrying timber home from the DIY store is as simple as purchasing a pair of roof bars and load stops - try doing that with your "sit-up-and-beg” SUV. Protect the interior and you’ll get 3 meter lengths inside too! Trip to the tip? no problem - the low loading sill facilitates you loading heavy items without risking spinal injury - and the Dog will thank you when it’s tired after a walk.
Long journeys are dispelled in comfort with or without Dynamic Chassis Control ("Adaptive Suspension" to you and me) and the urge to drive further than is absolutely necessary is hard to resist. I live on quite a steep incline, so 4 wheel drive was a must-have on any car I chose to have! The 4motion on the R gives me confidence in my ability to avoid drama in all weather conditions, and I’ve not spun a wheel in 7000 miles of driving this car on all road types.
It’s the most practical small\medium family car I’ve ever owned, and with the extra power available for whenever you feel the need to “crack on" it’s perfect.
I love it, I’m sure you will too.
