Summary
What does this car say about you?
This owner has taste!!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Most of them have remarked about its good looks and everyone loves the 18" Monza Shadow alloys, although these can be prone to something called whiteworm ( a form of corrosion) mine show no signs of this yet. My car is in deep black pearl which looks superb in the sunshine, maybe not so great in the winter when it can be covered in dirt for days on end.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely although VW prices are horrendous, for me there is no small family car out there which is better. My GTI looks good and drives even better it is the best car package available.
What are you likely to buy next?
I am not certain, I do think the Mk7 GTI will probably be too expensive for me, but if I have a win on the lottery that may just be my next new car.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£24,000
When did you buy the car?
July 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
No not really any deals available, the car had only been introduced in May when mine was ordered and VW were becoming oversubscribed.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I had desired a GTI since being a teenager so when the MK6 came out and I was in a financial position to purchase this was the only car I was ever going to buy.
What was the dealer like?
Very very good and extremely helpful.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Brilliant plenty of pace when needed but also very good pottering around in town. There are numerous settings for the steering wheel and the seats are exceptionally comfortable. I also specified the ACC which gives 3 different ride settings of which comfort is the best. Although I like the sport setting for fast country roads, it stiffens up the steering slightly.
What's it like to park?
Very easy there are very few blind spots and the car is not too big and of course with the reverse camera backing into anywhere is a complete doddle.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Painless motoring this car is fantastic and puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.
What's most practical about your car?
To be honest for a moderately hot hatch the fuel consumption is very good.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The reversing camera which pops up in the boot lid VW badge and shows up in the RNS510 Sat Nav unit. It is good to show off to your passengers.
