Ok. You don't get a lot for your money.

    Costs

    1 out of 5 1.0

Very expensive to run. Seem to be constantly buying new parts. In the last year, it has had a new head gasket, gearbox, clutch, brakes all round, suspension all round, new heater system as well as the normal wear and tear components.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Excellent handling for age. Maybe a little too sloppy at the rear. A little under-torqued, but good amount of power at middle revs. Power steering a must!

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Pretty good for a 14 year old car. Will beat most hatches of the modern day.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

    Shocking.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

It has a nice image. Not too much of a boy racer car, unlike its rivals.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Really comfortable to drive. It just took four people and their luggage and snowboards to the south of france wirh relative ease and comfort.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Good idea to get an aftermarket alarm.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

They still think VW are the most reliable cars in the world. And with that, they appear arrogant at times.
