Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 1.8 GTI 16V 3d (1991/H) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
-
Economy
Value
Slow depreciation, always getting offers for it
Costs
~£50 month plus fuel running costs
-
On the road
Driving
Late edition had lowered suspension from factory, beats earlier models with ease
Performance
Poor torque in low revs, go for 8v option for town driving, 16v for motorway stuff. Just keep it above 4500rpm and it flies though, beats any modern car of its type, air filter and exhaust and you can expect 140mph
-
Living with it
Reliability
Look after it and it will repay you, turn key start every day for 5 years
Image
Classic 80's icon, bit dated now, but good examples still hold respect on the road
Comfort
Ride height adjustable seat on 16v, excellent & comfortable
-

Clifford 300 aftermarket £400, very effective
