Summary
What does this car say about you?
That I had a very limited budget, yet I still have an interest in cars.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They did not mind it, although they did think that it was rather dull looking.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Only in the form of a more efficient diesel or sporty GTI, otherwise no.
What are you likely to buy next?
At the time, I had wanted something smaller and efficient like a Nissan Micra, however by the time the tax and MOT ran out, the work van was fixed.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£200
When did you buy the car?
July 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
For £200, it was certainly a good deal, although it came with some problems as it had reached the end of its life.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I needed a cheap temporary car.
What was the dealer like?
The chap was desperate to sell it, hence a cheap quick sale.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
With the light-weight body and 1.8 litre engine, it was very rapid, and even though the clutch and brakes were faulty, the steering was fun, the gear changes were slick and it accelerated quite quickly.
What's it like to park?
The rear pillars are rather large so it restricts rear visibility, however it was not too bad to park, although with a sticky clutch parallel parking was made slightly harder.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The car came with a sticking clutch and a set of worn out brakes. Apart from that it was not too bad.
What's most practical about your car?
The large boot alongside the robust build quality made the car both functional and practical right until it final days.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
This was the base model, therefore it had no fancy extras. However it was the Mk3 Golf so it is allot more lighter than the current Golf, so with a powerful engine it was a rather rapid car.
