Summary
What does this car say about you?
Depends. If it's modified, then boy racer, standard, then either can't afford a newer hot hatch or you're a grandad.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it, however they keep telling me to get rid of it seeing as it's always breaking down (I've almost replaced everything there is to replace, so soon enough it'll all be new again!)
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes definitely. Excellent all rounder, easy to park, easy to live with, cheap to service and cheap to run IF driven carefully.
What are you likely to buy next?
Something japanese, with a turbo and rear wheel drive :)

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£900
When did you buy the car?
November 2008
Did you get a good deal and why?
Originally an 8v engine with full service history, 12 months mot, 6 months tax, no rust.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Father owned various of these, so I've always liked them.
What was the dealer like?
Typical dealer, trying hard to sell it.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Chassis wise the Mk3 is very good, much improved over the Mk2. However what gave the Mk3 a bad reputation was the soft suspension, and once that's sorted the it's a great ride. Mine has coilovers and polybushes both at the front and back, so it handles great!
What's it like to park?
Very easy to see out of and manoeuvre.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes, but usually minor things. However the power steering rack failed, so major work involved in changing it. With the new 16v engine, I had lots of electrical problems but I do expect things to go wrong with age.
What's most practical about your car?
Performance, style and practicality all in 1.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
8 more valves in the engine!
