Practical performance, likes something reliable but with a bit of performance.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It's a likeable car, I often get comments on how good it looks. Some of my friends also find the performance impressve for a car of its age.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'd buy another Golf, maybe a MK4 next time but no plans to upgrade as yet whilst this one is still going well.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably another Golf GTI, plenty about and I can put the children in if I need to!

Did you get a good deal and why?
I think it was a good deal, it came with lots of history and main dealer servicing. Everything worked and as the seller was after a quick sale I got a good price.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I needed a practical car quickly and my neighbour was selling this car for what I thought was a fair price.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Easy to drive, enough power for what I use it for, with low down torque, will pull in 5th from under 30. Handling is ok, but mine needs new shocks and springs really.
What's it like to park?
A doddle to park, power steering and good visability - if you can't park this you should walk!

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
In almost 2 years it's only real fault was a misfire which was cured by cleaning the throttle body. All the electrics work and at 155,000 still going strong!
What's most practical about your car?
Performance, it's a 2 litre but I get 40+ MPG on my commute. And if you want to push it harder you can - yes it's slow by modern hot hatch standards, but not slow compared to most cars.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Trip computer is handy, other than that I love the simplicity, can still service and maintain this car myself.
