-
Economy
Value
Still expensive as a used buy, but very solid.
Costs
Fair if you go to an independant specialist. Thirsty due to weight, only average 33mpg.
-
On the road
Driving
Good for every day driving, but not worthy of GTi badge. Suspension a bit clunky.
Performance
Bigest weakness. Too slow by far, considering how much it drinks. Too much body roll, but steering and grip is ok.
-
Living with it
Reliability
No problems. Keep the servicing regular.
Image
Still solid and dependable, but don't think it will hold any classic status.
Comfort
Good levels of comfort, good seats (need to be to compensate body roll!) Do 80 miles a day without any aches.
-
Security and Service
Security
Poor. Had to fit additional immobiliser for insurance.
Service
Use independant specialist, car is too old to justify dealer costs.
