Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (92-98) rivals
Overview
The MK III Golf did not deliver a class-leading performance in terms of how it drove, but it was the most desirable car in its class and has significantly more clout with buyers than the Escort and Astra. This is mainly thanks to build quality, finish, and conservative styling which has aged with dignity. But popularity has a downside and it’s that Golf can be expensive to buy – so make sure you don’t pay too much.
