Economy
Value
Expensive to buy but holds value reasonably well. As Jeremy Clarkson once said, somebody will always buy your Golf, no matter how old or battered!
Costs
Expensive to repair and expensive to service. But the car is cool, so I don't care. Oh and fuel economy not bad either.

On the road
Driving
Good ride quality, rewarding to drive.
Performance
Nippy around town, 100mph+ on the motorway without breaking out into a sweat. Good for bossing boy racers in 1.0 Corsas.

Living with it
Reliability
Rear washer pipes/connectors break regularly, leaking water onto interior trim and leaving blue discolouration from the screen wash (repair cost £50.00). Electric windows drop into doors (repair cost £180.00). Engine temp sender replaced on warranty.
Image
Great looking car, good image and better looking that the Mk5 which looks more like a Peugeot on drugs.
Comfort
Very comfortable interior indeed.

Security and Service
Security
Never been broken into or stolen (as yet) but some chav stole a wheel trim one night. VW approved cable ties fixed this from happening again (cost £150.00).
Service
VW main dealers pricey and often need a few tries before they get it right. Dealership in Harrogate has a fit Irish bird working in Service Dept. though.
