Economy
Value
Great all round value for the price with ample creature comforts on the SE.
Costs
Not an expensive car to run with parts from dealer reasonably priced, insurance a measly group 6 and fuel economy very good for the size of engine.
-
On the road
Driving
Fantastic driving position with a smooth supple ride which instils confidence in most drivers.
Performance
Performance more than ample for 1.6 engine, although does tend to get a bit boomy on motorways.

Living with it
Reliability
Have not had the car that long. Only minor problem has been a temperamental alarm, which has gone off usually at night.
Image
Can't beat the image of the Golf - says it all really.
Comfort
Interior in a class of its own in comparison to its rivals. Feels like a car costing twice as much. Bags of room and well insulated from noise. Great Hi-fi. Class.
-
Security and Service
Security
Car came with alarm and central locking from factory, although supposed to be quite easy to break into. Deadlocks and 1 touch interior button a nice touch.
Service
Manufacturers have always been helpful and willing to offer advice.
