Summary
What does this car say about you?
I wanted to be understated and classless.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Loved it, because of its comfort and classy cabin, and safe, solid feel it had.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes and would buy the current golf. I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe reliable car. If i was to buy one again i would choose the 2.8 v5 version as the 1.6 can feel weasy as with the so called gti's of that period.
What are you likely to buy next?
Have owned a ford focus since which i wish i never sold the golf to buy. Now drive an Audi Q3.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Safe, solid, predictable. Not fun, rolled a lot and crashed over bumps, but i enjoyed the realxed driving experience it offered.
What's it like to park?
Very very easy, with the optional parking sensors.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
One thing in the whole 10 years my family owned it. The plastic spindle in the water pump went. Known fault with these and a3's so swapped it for a metal one for £80 with fitting. Incrdibly reliable car over the 10 years only cost £80 in repairs.
What's most practical about your car?
Seats were very comfortable. Not a particualrly practical car, although managed to carry all of mine and a friends uni equipment, clothes, set of shelves, everything in one trip. So in that respect pretty practical.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Leather seats very comfortable. Heated seats nice in cold. Stereo upgrade very good, with great bass. Climate control never touched once set to preference. Auto lights. Retro fitted bluetooth. Cruise control was a blessing when relaxing on my 3 hour regular journey to the midlands. Parking sesors made parking easy.
