Value
You pay a premium for the VW Golf badge.
Costs
Parts and servicing can be expensive. Fuel economy is fair for it's age...

Driving
A pleasure to drive, slight understeer, good feedback from the steering, what's not to like?
Performance
So the 1.6 engine isn't the most powerful. It's reasonably well geared and fun working the gearbox.

They don't come much better.

Security
Alarm and deadlocks, although problems with the locks have been reported.
