Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 1.8 T GTI 3d (2001/Y) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
-
Economy
Value
The price was reduced at the begining of 2001 so it was sensibly priced.
Costs
Got 31 mpg in 16,000 miles so ok considering it's mainly city driving.
-
On the road
Driving
Large 17" wheels fitted with 225/45 tyres, so handling with ASR stability is fanatastic. It starts to slide and then the electronics take over to save the day!
Performance
After two days from new a superchip, air filter and Scorpion exhaust where fitted giving 200bhp for another grand. What mods! worth every penny, now this car has some boost an mid range torque is fab.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Jammed seat belt, crunching second to third, clutch slave cylinder fault. All common I'm led to believe.
Image
Fab, phat, low well lowish with bug wheels, xenons for that police car look.
Comfort
Bucket seats with lumber real comfy.

Security and Service
Security
Cat one alarm, coded key, self locking doors, they're either gonna tow it or mug yer for the key!
Service
The dealer was Hayseldens, Doncaster, real helpful high levels of service always from them.
