What does this car say about you?
The car is classless as many people have said. It is simply a car that can do it all but in a solid, safe and reliable manner. You appreciate the car for being consistent every day.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
The neighbours like it. It's a car that if looked after still looks fresh. There are many very tidy examples driven on the roads that look really good.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. It just delivers without fail. People that have had issues have just been very unlucky. I have owned many many cars from the mundane to hair raising performers but the Golf still makes me smile because it does it all so very well.
What are you likely to buy next?
Possibly another Golf Diesel or a Honda Civic Diesel. However, with only 90k miles on the clock I can see my MK4 lasting for many years to come.

Yes I was happy with the price I paid and it was kept very well and very clean with an excellent history.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
An all round solid and reliable performing car was required.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It is a bit soft on suspension but the MK4 was designed to be a Grand Tourer rather than a hardcore sportier car. It cruises effortlessly and is supremely comfortable on long journeys. Acceleration is smooth and progressive. Powerful indeed.
What's it like to park?
Easy to park with good visibility all round. The steering is light and the clutch/gearbox are light in operation.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Nothing at all.
What's most practical about your car?
5 doors combined with a decent sized boot which has taken 2 mountain bikes with ease, trips to the tip and shopping are all dealt with comfortably.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
On an unmodified example car I would say the Instruments are very well laid out and general ergonomics are excellent.
