Summary
What does this car say about you?
One of the things I like about the Golf is it seems to appeal to everyone so I suppose it says ' I made a smart choice'... and probably a bit 'image conscious'...
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it but probably think the used ones are overpriced - you pay a lot for a decent used Golf.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, for sure. Although the same maintenance issues seem to arise on all of them, fundamentally reliable, solid, stylish and a great drive.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably another Golf and almost certainly VW/ Seat/Skoda (the VRs I had was great and the dealer excellent).

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£3,400
When did you buy the car?
December 2011
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, a fair deal. Bought the car in December which probably helped and it had complete service history and just one owner from new.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I'm a big VW fan and of the Golf in particular having owned many in the past.
What was the dealer like?
Ok, could have described the car more positively when I first called - nearly didn't bother viewing it!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Fantastic diesel engine with perfect comination of performance/economy. Smooth ride just a bit of a shame the handling could be more taut.
What's it like to park?
No problem.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Clutch pedal stuck but fortunately a quick fix at no cost. The central locking on the driver's door needs to be looked at.
What's most practical about your car?
Just the right size and a great on long journeys.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Narrowed down the search to only those with the factory option sunroof - a must for me as I can't have the Eos I dream of!
