Economy
Value
Where else can you get a performance diesel that does over 50mpg and will pull away from almost anything?
Costs
Very expensive VW service, although lots cheaper with private specialists. Is there really a need to service every 10,000 miles?

On the road
Driving
Good strong drive. Once over 1500rpm there's no need to drop a gear to pull away.
Performance
Nice instant acceleration. A couple of lag spots, although car feels a lot quicker than it is. Will pull away just as quick as the 150bhp 1.8T but delivers far better economy.

Living with it
Reliability
Touch wood on 88k now and starts instantly every time no matter what the weather conditions etc
Image
Put some Audi RS4 alloys on, now get lots of looks and pleasant comments - very pleased
Comfort
Nice firm seats that almost wrap around you and feels secure. Better comfort than the new BMW 3series.

Security and Service
Security
Not been nicked yet and comes with Cat 1 alarm as standard.
Service
Service is the biggest let down - VW are crap - avoid them once your warranty runs out they are unreliable, poor quality and outrageously expensive.
