Value
Quite expensive but a solid, well made car with good quality fittings.
Costs
VW dealers charge a premium over most of the competition, but spares and pattern parts are plentiful if needed.

Driving
Generally competent roadholding and handling. Excellent brakes. Easy gearchange and clutch action. Steering satisfactory, but could have more feel.
Performance
Excellent performance from turbo diesel engine provides masses of torque which helps overtaking.

Reliability
Have only covered 5000 miles so far. Reliability has not been a problem.

Good driving position and excellent (optional) leather Recardo seats, with adjustable lumbar support. Standard automatic climate control is particularly welcome.
