Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 1.9 SE TDI 5d (2001/51) Owner Review

Economy
Value
This car has been great value. Whilst it was expensive to buy, we felt that there was no real equal to the Golf.
Costs
With the VW maintenance, plan we have been able to spread the maintenance costs on a monthly basis. This has also prevented any 'surprises' being sprung - as we have experienced with other makes!

On the road
Driving
This is a thoroughly enjoyable family car, although it does roll a little on the corners. I would not recommend that people confuse GTi with TDi in their driving style!
Performance
The car has enough 'pull' for our needs and, frankly, anyone purchasing a 90bhp TDi should be expecting to drive in a more sedate style. 75mpg on a long journey is difficult to argue with.

Living with it
Reliability
Exceptional.

Is this really that important?
Comfort
We have found this car (SE) to be extremely comfortable whether travelling to Cornwall or to buy corn flakes. The only limitation is if you start to need more than two people (+luggage) in the back.

Security and Service
Security
No problems and no one has tried anything either - but then it's a diesel with child seats in the back, isn't it?
Service
We have been more than delighted by the exceptional customer care we have received from our dealer, and would be happy to recommend them to anyone.
