Summary
What does this car say about you?
It is an old car now, someone who likes a classy banger with a bit of performance.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It is pretty ordinary from the outside, so they don't get to appreciate the fantastic engine.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, the engine is terrific but the rest of the car is fairly average. Reliability has also been nothing to write home about, but bear in mind this is now a fairly old car and previous owners may not have treated it as nicely as I have.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably go back to BMW. The build quality and reliability are better.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The engine is terrific, smooth, has lots of torque and sounds very nice when it is revved. Steering is a bit too light at speed and the handling is ok but nothing special. Gearchange and clutch are nice and light, brakes are good.
What's it like to park?
Easy to park, excellent visibility. The steering is too light at speed but this makes parking in tight spaces easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
In my ownership I have changed the front lambda sensor, shock absorbers, front suspension wishbones, a coil pack failed. I also had to replace a front window regulator after the glass dropped and wouldn't go back up.
What's most practical about your car?
Easy to park, has 5 doors which makes rear access easy. Light steering. Fuel economy is very good averages 30-35mpg in normal driving.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The engine.
