Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2004 - 2008) 1.9 Match TDI 5d (DPF) Owner Review

Worth searching round for the 'Match' spec - gives it a bit of of extra refinement. Still very comfortable to drive. Supportive seating and forgiving suspension over rough roads. Engine sounds a bit noisy compared with later models and gearbox becoming notchy - at 74K it may be due for replacement. Only shocking repair bill was when I took it to my local independent with faulty oil gauge and asked them to check front brake pads. They replaced the gauge sensor and pads, plus new discs - £600. All I needed as I was about to go on holiday. Only thing I miss is rear parking sensors. I had some retro-fitted on a previous Golf, but have never got round to getting it done on this car. All in all, I've been well satisfied with the build quality and reliability of this car.
