Summary
What does this car say about you?
Practical - but a little individual due to engine choice.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone likes it - it was the original range topper (before GTI) so has all the sports seats, climate control etc.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Definitely - unless I could get the GTI DSG.
What are you likely to buy next?
I'll keep this for a while as a 2nd car now - buying something bigger due to children.
-
Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£12,000
When did you buy the car?
December 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes - the petrol wasn't popular so got it for the amount they paid for the trade in. Probably cost £3k less than a diesel, and only had 18k miles.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Replacement for a Seat Leon.
What was the dealer like?
Fine - they weren't local so have no relationship with them.
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Good - the 2.0 FSI is not popular on Golfs but I can't see why - it feels keener than the diesel in town and makes a far nicer noice. Fuel cons is 35-42mpg.
What's it like to park?
Easy - the back is virtually straight.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
One of the fans for the air-con has packed up, and the control box in the door has broken twice (which takes out a whole load of electrics).
What's most practical about your car?
Immense storage for a small car with the seats down - it took an Ikea sofa!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Auto dimming rear view mirror - I didn;t even 'know it had it.
