Summary
What does this car say about you?
Classless
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It doesn't raise any real comment.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably but would get a CR version rather than a PD and maybe even a manual rather than DSG.
What are you likely to buy next?
I'll see what takes my fancy. Quite likely another Golf of some sort.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,750
When did you buy the car?
January 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Reasonable deal. Car had a good service history, cambelt change, etc. No special favours from the dealer though.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Specifically looking for this model. Already owned a Golf GTI Mk 6 but needed an economical diesel auto for commuting.
What was the dealer like?
OK but had promised to undertake an air-con service but failed to do so but dealer too far away to go back and argue.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Note overly exciting - just very competent i.e. like a Golf should be. Great torque and very quick away from junctions and lights. The PD engines can be a little uncouth at times but fine on cruising. DSG box displays usual slow speed snatchiness and clunking but you learn to drive accordingly and get used to it. Great at speed though. Can get a bit frenetic in Sport mode which would probably suit a GTI better than a TDI.
What's it like to park?
Easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No. Just servicing, replacement drive shaft gators, brake pads, new tyres. Just standard wear with over 20K miles in one year.
What's most practical about your car?
Everything!
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Standard car with zero options.
