Volkswagen Golf Hatchback 2.0 GT TDI 5d (2004/54) Owner Review

Economy
Value
All I need to say is buy an import and save at least a couple of thousand £! Makes the car much better value although I haven't tried resale values yet.
Costs
Servicing costs so far have been very reasonable and at least 15k apart. 25k on a set of front tyres not too bad either.

Driving
Fun to drive when you want it to be. A smooth, easy cruiser too. Seems rock solid on everything but the very worst surface.
Performance
Far better than my old Focus, but unfortunately I think I am getting used to it. Loads of grunt when you want it in any gear. Way more than capable of getting you in trouble without you realising it.

Living with it
Reliability
Not a problem in 42k.
Image
It's image is only based on the fact it's a VW. For a 'sportier' version, I feel it should look more the part and get some 17"" on there.
Comfort
I can be sat in the car for 7 hours a day. Once I got the seat set up right I am still fresh after this much driving. Could do with more lumber support though.

Security and Service
Security
Still with me.
Service
I use Heritage VW in Bristol. They have been polite, reasonably priced and have never had a problem with the fact the car was imported.

Fair bit of oil usage, over the servicing intervals. A quick top up every so often sort this out though.
