Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2004 - 2008) 2.0 S SDI 5d (AC) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Everything's great and works., AC, E/W, CD etc.
The only improvement that could be made on the SDI is more power... but it's completely adequate and useable - and as nobody really seeks out the SDI it can be had for a very low used price.
Probably the best workhorse around.
How reliable do you find the car?
Passenger front door doesn't lock on central locking, easily replaced mechanism for under £30. Needed new alternator belt and pully as a bit noisy and cracked.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
I felt the need to review this particular model because the SDI engine get's a bad rap. It perfectly adequate for keeping up with traffic and overtaking on the motorway providing you aren't someone who likes to sit in the middle or fast lane all the time. 45 MPG in normal driving, 50+ on long journeys. It's smooth, comfortable, spacious and safe. I would recommend this model as a daily workhorse for all the above reasons, particularly as they are 'hard to shift' meaning a real bargain can be had for a very reliable and useable VW hatchback. I'd certainly have another.About their car
