Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2009 - 2012) 1.2 TSI S 5d DSG Owner Review

When I retired I downsized my car from large engined BMW's and Mercedes to a 1.2 litre VW Golf and have been very pleasantly surprised with its build quality. The car is comfortable, smooth running, with accurate and responsive steering. Its petrol engine is extremely frugal delivering 55 mpg on occasional long trips and around 33 on local short ones. The original car did not have cruise control and as the accellerator is very touch sensitive making it difficult to keep to a steady speed, I added it and it has made the long drives experience much more satisfying. It also greatly assists to keep within specific speed limited areas. VW main dealer garages are clean and well organised and their service centres are efficient..
