Summary
What does this car say about you?
It is a very sensible and practical car for today's roads and I feel that this is what I want it to say about me.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it and are asking when I am going to change this one as I go through cars at a rate of one a year, sometimes two2. As I am pleased with the car I will probably keep it for a couple of years which is unusual for me.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes I would by the new mark 7 when I change this vehicle in a few years' time.
What are you likely to buy next?
I am thinking of purchasing a Mercedes-Benz SLK this year as I owned one a couple of years ago, and run it as a second car for sunny summer days. And keep the Golf for its practicality.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£23,000
When did you buy the car?
August 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
I sold my previous vehicle privately so that I had some say in the money I was willing to pay.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
I owned a Volvo S40 which I did not like and replaced it with a better vehicle.
What was the dealer like?
I was not very impressed with the franchise dealer as I was purchasing my new Golf and also buying a second-hand Polo for my partner. We had instructed him to find a Polo that was less than two years old and he tried to sell me a six-year old rusty heep. Needless to say I went elsewhere for the Polo.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It is very easy to drive as the DSG has a very smooth gear change with it 7 forward gears.
What's it like to park?
The car has parking sensors front and back so that it impossible to make a mistake in parking in tight public parking bays, and parallel parking is a doddle.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
There has been no problems with the vehicle since I purchased it 9 months ago.
What's most practical about your car?
I travel to London on a regular basis - a round trip journey of 580 miles and still have at least a quarter of a tank of fuel left.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The cd player will take 6 cds which is great for long journeys.
