  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

    Probably that I am boring.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like the colour (steel grey metallic).

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. I have already had one accident caused by the Hill Hold Assist, where I thought I had applied sufficient handbrake but after 2 seconds the HHA released and the car rolled backwards into a fence. The combined cycle fuel economy is nowhere near the advertised figures. Advertised 62 MPG, actual 52 MPG. Compare this with the Bora; Advertised 54 MPG actual 50 MPG. It wasn't worth giving up the power and torque of the 130 PS PD engine for such a small increase in economy.

What are you likely to buy next?

I am looking to go back to a Golf/Bora with the old 1.9 PD engine. VW used to make good cars!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £18,000

When did you buy the car?

    August 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

This was a 'pack' car which attracted a good discount off the new price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a hatchback (previously owned a Bora).

    What was the dealer like?

OK, but could have explained some of the dimwitted features it has like 'Hill hold assist'.

Have you had any problems with the car?

    Not yet.

What's most practical about your car?

    Plenty of cabin space.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Nothing outstanding. It has a lot of software 'gadgets' that I could well do without, like the fact that the Air Conditioning turns on when I turn the blower on. I never use AC as after a year or so it ends up smelling like someone left a pair of rancid socks in the system, so it's a pain to have to keep turning it off.
