Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2009 - 2012) 2.0 TDI (140bhp) GT 5d DSG Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
This MKVI 2-litre diesel VW Golf has many known flaws. This particular car has exhibited them all. Air con compressor died. Necessary to replace dryer which was not a standard MK VI item (off a Passat allegedly) had to replace condenser too as it is an integral unit. Wheels went porous and would not hold pressure 59,000 miles. DSG gearbox failed at 64,000 miles £3,500 to repair. (Not VW. Couldn’t afford that!) Heater controls failed not sorted.
The only thing not removed apparently to do this is the VIN number. I don’t know where VW get their high reliability rating from. It’s certainly not from owners according to JD Power surveys. Having spent lots on this car correcting manufacturing faults it now (touch wood) runs ok and is quite pleasant to own/drive. Truth is spent so much on the car plus the initial purchase it makes any other car a very expensive replacement.
At no point have VW Customer (Don’t) Care department or the local dealer been interested.
