Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2009 - 2012) 2.0 TDI (140bhp) SE 3d Owner Review

Car in the main has been fine, although did need a new gearbox at 60,000 miles it wore a hole from inside out!! Put a reconditioned one back in with a new clutch, been fine since. New discs all round at 40,000 miles. One niggling point is had the EMS yellow light on since 45,000 miles. Took it to Volkswagen but they said might be a temp sensor on a fuel line but without a more extensive review and probably £300+ to do said test. Not been a problem in terms of car running and indeed gets very good MPG, long term 58mpg but had it up to 80mpg when I set myself a target to get 800 plus miles out the tank range. Change oil / filter every 10,000 with my local dealer. Car looks in good order and overall pleased with it. Commute every day around 80 miles and comfortable enough. Would consider another but the marque did itself no favours with the emissions scandal.
