Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2013 - 2020) 1.4 TSI (150bhp) R-Line 5d DSG Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Bought Mk. 7.5 Golf R-Line Edition 1.5 (150 bhp) DSG, in advance of Mk 8 coming along to avoid the touch screen dash control functions. R-Line Edition (2020 build) has the dash control mix between touch screen and buttons just about right. It is a great car, just about drives itself and the LED lights are really superb.
Due to lock down the car has just covered 3,700 miles since new, but they have been very enjoyable driving miles. It is a superb car, cannot fault it in any way, with 0-62 in 8.7 seconds, it has good performance on the road with excellent response when required for safe overtaking when necessary.
Note that automatic car sales have now exceeded manual gear box sales. I have been driving VW DSG semi-automatic cars from around six years. The R-Line also has a steering while 'paddle' shift which can add a little input, for example coming up to a roundabout you can down shift manually instead of breaking, then holding the upshift paddle for 1 sec on leaving the round about puts it back in automatic to perform perfect up shifts while accelerating away from the exit. Then on the other side of the coin, when in traffic you can just doddle along with the flow without having to waggle a gear stick. On an 'A' road with traffic going at fluctuating speed the Adaptive Cruise Control is perfect, you do not have to worry about having to watch what the traffic in front is up to.
All in all I find the VW R-Line 150 bhp DSG Golf, a perfect car to cater for your prevailing driving mood in any situation.
