Volkswagen Golf Hatchback (2013 - 2020) GT 1.5 TSI EVO 150PS 5d Owner Review

In their own words
They say if you have one car you just need a Golf because it does almost everything you need and they are right. We bought this as the end of line Golf 7.5 because of good dealer discounts were curious as we'd never owned a Golf. It doesn't disappoint, doing everything so competently and is so well thought through. I like its simple understated design inside and out. The Mini 1.5 4 door we traded in was more fun but also more flawed with too many gimmicks and poor visibility unlike the Golf's glassy openness. I like the sound of the Golf from the moment you push "start" and it's comfortable, good to drive, spacious, solid.
On Motorway miles with adaptive cruise control on long trips it's comfortable and quiet and has just enough performance. It inspires confidence and I think has actually made me a calmer safer driver. You don't want to thash it but it can hurry along when needed. It's done duty as a student van and is a good town car, easy to park. Ours is black and we've gone to the wrong car in car parks a couple of times. If anything the only criticism is it is a bit non-descript and it doesn't stand out in a crowd. Overall the car inspires confidence and is easy to live with. Typically the parking sensors don't lie - there's no safety margin. The Golf doesn't bull**** you! Also the only fault I've ever had is a key battery going flat. I didn't replace it when warned and the car wouldn't start. So somehow my failure not the Golf's..........so typical
