Volkswagen Jetta (2006 - 2010) 1.9 SE TDI PD 4d Owner Review

Bought this car for £1600 with 92,000 on the clock and so surprised how good this car is even still. I was debating 2.0 vs 1.9 and I went for the fuel economy and cheaper insurance rather than more power. I thought I was going to be disappointed with the power difference but the car is awesome in mid range speed increases in third gear, and over taking on the moterway. The fuel economy is very good considering where I live is countryside, and travelling through 2 town centres to get to work, I am averaging 45 MPG which I think is more than acceptable. I do drive gingerly to achieve this and use redex fuel system cleaner once every 3 months to look after the fuel system and keeping my emissions low. I do find the car loose on the back end which makes it a little slippy in the wet but have improved the situation slightly with all season tyres. When I bought it I changed the cambelt and water pump straight away which set me back £400 but well worth doing for obvious reasons. I have had a spring I needed to replace as well within my first year which cost me £120 but the engine and gearbox is smooth and slick. For a 2006 SE model it has automatic lights/wipers, cruise control so it’s well equipped and smashing on long journeys. The boot is just incredible to load up and get away for the week. All in all its a fantastic car with a great specification, great on fuel, incredible reliability if looked after and maintained. Still going strong for 15 years old and hopefully many more to come.
