What does this car say about you?
Fun but sensible, appreciates quality, enjoys high mpg and low running costs (a true 'eco' car without all the Eco Bluemotion type badging).
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All positive comments. Pleasantly suprised at the £30 road tax costs for a 2001 car with a 1.7 litre engine. Impressed with the mpg figures.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. A 2001 SDI or TDI Lupo which is now 11 years old can compete with much newer 'Eco' cars in terms of high mpg figures and low emissions figures (very low road tax costs).
What are you likely to buy next?
Another small VW diesel.

Did you get a good deal and why?
The diesel models hold their value well and are hard to find, so I paid about average for an SDI in very good condition with average mileage and fsh.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Reliable engine, 70mpg and £30 road tax.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Feels like a much newer VW diesel to drive. Comfortable ride. Nippy around town (no turbo=no turbo lag). Handles the fast lane of the motorway fine too. Loses speed on long hills but considering the horsepower it does very well and returns 65-70mpg out of town.
What's it like to park?
Very easy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Electric windows were siezed up when I bought it, but I repaired them by dismantling the mechanisms and spraying with lithium grease (cost me £5).
What's most practical about your car?
Easy to park and monoeuvre, nippy in traffic. I found engine oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter are easy to replace at home with basic tools for a confident DIYer.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
S model has all the mod cons (electric windows, PAS, Airbags, Central locking, trip computer, ABS).
