Volkswagen Passat Estate 1.8 GL 5d (1989/G) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It cost me £700 and worth every penny! The previous owner owned the car from new, not that any thing went wrong with it, apart from services and parts wearing out.
Costs
Running costs are excellent considering the size of the car. Economy is 35mpg average.

On the road
Driving
Very comfortable and quiet drive considering its age.
Performance
A little underpowered in singlepoint injection form, but it's not the sort of car you do standing starts in!
-
Living with it
Reliability
Impeccable reliability. Apart from fuel and insurance, it's cost me nothing.
Image
Image? It's a family estate!
Comfort
Very comfortable. Plenty of legroom in the front and rear. Driving position superb.
-
Security and Service
Security
Awful. A screwdriver and a bit of leverage and you're in.
Service
VW dealers patronising and unhelpful for this make, probably because of its age.

No problems at all, ever!
Other
Driver's window winder stiffens and teeth shear - seems to be a design fault.
