Volkswagen Passat Estate 2.0 CL 5d (94) (1996/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Totally under-rated. Looks smart and the CD player cost more to buy!
Costs
Servicing is routine and cheap if you don't go the VW way. Likes a drink round town.
-
On the road
Driving
Firm ride, light steering, good grip, low roll in corners compared to similar cars.
Performance
As you would expect. Quite torquey. Gruff engine note.
-
Living with it
Reliability
150,000 and not a sausage. Built like a tank, a silver one.
Image
The ultimate in Grandad chique. As bland as you like.
Comfort
Like all VW products - firm seats. Lots of room.
-
Security and Service
Security
No alarm. Central locking fails to lock in severe cold conditions
Service
VW dealers are ok, but expensive given the market position of their products.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
No probs. Unrefined if pushed.
Other
