Economy
Value
Good deal for a 8 month old demonstrator. Much cheaper than TDi version but will probably depreciate more unless the hugh numbers of TDis make values weaken for that model.
Costs
Only ~30mpg when I thought I'd get closer to 35.

Driving
With the sport suspension, it's not a bad car to drive at all. A nice blend of comfort and handling. It's not as sharp as a Mondeo but it's still a good, balanced drive. Having a petrol also makes it very refined as VW's diesels are noisy.
Performance
Get it right and the turbo works very well. Going from a Golf TDi I can see where the petrol engine loses out in places but it does gain in others. Nice free reving style.

Living with it
Reliability
Good overall but there have been odds and sods including some trim issues.
Image
To be honest, not as good as BMW, Merc, Audi but not far off. With the sports suspension, it sits lower with nice alloys and in silver it does look good.
Comfort
Great comfort, space and practicality.

Security and Service
Security
Police friend of mine who works on stolen cars as a speciality tells me these are one of the hardest to steal. Fingers x-ed.
Service
Pulman VW in Durham simply superb and a world apart from Mill VW whom I bought my Golf from. They're terrible.
