Volkswagen Passat Estate (2000 - 2005) 1.9 Highline TDI (130ps) 5d Owner Review

Super reliable with good performance and economy. Despite mileage now approaching 280K car still performs as well as it ever did. Still on original clutch despite mixed driving and even exhaust and suspension components are original equipment. Alternator pulley needed replacing but otherwise only standard service items. It has been a terrific workhorse and tow car. My only real gripes are the heater controls and drivers seat/position. Despite having owned it for 9 years, the heater controls are still something of a mystery. Thankfully, I see they have returned to the idiotproof three knob system. I've never found the seat particularly comfortable and have struggled to get a perfect driving position despite all the adjustments available. Maybe just me.Rust on front arches and in several other places now but I can forgive that. In summary, the best car I'm ever likely to own. I would buy another except for the fact I'm desperate for a change!
