Volkswagen Passat Estate 2.0 SE 5d (2001/Y) Owner Review

-
Economy
Costs
Get a bit annoyed at the high costs for VW parts and accessories, it's the only thing that puts me off owning a Volkswagen
-
On the road
Driving
Feels okay to drive. Sometimes think the previous(fourth generation Passat) felt better
Performance
Appears a bit sluggish. Really need to work engine hard to get good response
-
Living with it
Reliability
Have had some problems with the CO2 emission indicator light on the dash. Advice in the owner's manual advises you to drive very carefully to your nearest dealer and have engine checked. If feature wasn't there you would never be any the wiser .
Image
There's a certain type of person who chooses the Passat estate and sometimes you feel part of that "club" in owning one. It does exude a presence of quality both on the road and on your drive.
Comfort
Don't find seats very comfortable at all, despite having the driver's seat replaced under warranty. Feel very sore after three hour journey. This was not the case with my previous Passat. Tempted to go back to the previous model.
